IMO they represented an inappropriate politicisation of policing, impinged negatively on strategic decision making, and were a huge waste of money.

An unedifying shambles. At least the Alliance is being categorically denied the separate structures it has been scheming and plotting for. Meanwhile, GAFCON has declared full-scale schism. All very depressing.
