Working towards of a world where everyone can happily spend Saturday well fed and under a tree, curled up in bed, or on a mountain.

Fascism bad, basketball good.

He/him/his. Tweets my own
To what degree is this happening only in countries that have a robust right wing disinformation media culture?

Murdoch is strong in the US, UK, and Australia, but I only have a strong sense of what's going on in the center left in the US (and somewhat UK)

I'm not saying scouts only look at FT%, I'm saying it is one of many factors with predictive power that moves people up and down the draft every year.

To be clear: I think in situations of uncertainty (sports, politics, etc) we should use all available data.
Fact or Fiction: Is College Free Throw Percentage Better Than College Three Point Percentage at…
A commonly held thought in NBA circles states that a college basketball player’s free throw percentage is a better measure of his future…

A lot actually! Many NBA prospects rise to the draft by the best athlete on the floor, but in the NBA they will be pretty average. So scouts look for any data they can use to predict shot development, BBIQ, etc.
FT% specifically is used as a proxy for shot development, iirc.
Use all the data you can

I agree that most slick consultant ads convey the opposite, but also there is no one size fits all.
Mamdani's aesthetic choices wouldn't do shit for Bernie, whose ads went viral in a way that the DNC would sell its soul for.

I think the question is "what makes me looks authentic?"
This is happening on YouTube/TikTok/Instagram/Twitch where a lot of very successful streamers have cultivated a DIY & messy room aesthetic. Authenticity is the coin of the moment

The NBA, famous for being a sport that doesn't care about shoes.

(Or are basketball shoes masculine enough that they don't count as fashion now?)

Alt: LeBron James in a grey suit where the pants are shorts, with socks identical in shade to the rest of the suit, carrying a gift bag on his way to the locker room before a game.

Maybe, though I feel like the all star game is at its best when it's a showcase of the skill of the best of the best.

Also from a play standpoint dunking and weight are issues. NBA players are on average about half a foot and 50lbs heavier than WNBA players. That's a big advantage in both leagues.

the biggest problem I see is the basketball itself--NBA and WNBA use different sized balls. Not sure how to solve that, given that professionals in both sports train so precisely with the ball they compete with.

Which news outlets in the US rival ProPublica for quality and impact in their investigative reporting?
The Center for Investigative Reporting is the only one coming to my mind

This incentivizes car loans with less money down, and higher loan to value ratios and higher interest rates, which not coincidentally is how car dealers make their money.
