And as for Hydrogen trucks in China …

Annual sales data in China show that their trucking fleet is shifting from diesel to gas and BEV, which provides cost, environmental & climate advantages. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋

Key electricity generation points for Q3 2025: The increase in renewable generation in China exceeded that of the rest of the work combined. The drop in Fossil Fuel use in China and India exceeded the increase in Fossil Fuel use for the rest of the world! 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋

Through Q3 2025, Solar and Wind together exceeded Global Demand Growth. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋

Loki’s 🐈‍⬛ favorite toy is his mouse friend. He carries mouse around the house and sings to announce that he’s found him 🐁!
Lately, he’s taken to putting mouse on the bed so that it can share the sunspot.

This screenshot from the CarbonBrief article may say it all. Did COP just legislate themselves out of relevance? See alt test for details. 🧪

Christmas was Izzy’s favorite time of year b/c we brought a tree inside.

We had a feral cat adopt us many years ago. Izzy (short for “Is he still there”) showed up one winter, then left in the spring but returned the next winter. We built an insulated cat shelter with a heating pad for him b/c it took us 5 years to get him to come in.

The smart thermostat controls our hybrid heat pump to shift to gas in 2 ways. Gas assist happens when temps outside drop by >2°F/hr. And it shift from heat pump to gas @ crossover temp <20°F. We mostly use gas in Mo. with >1000 HDD. This year we've disabled gas assist to cut gas further. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋
November 22, 2025 at 1:17 PM
Gas update: We've turned the gas back on for temps <20°F. We last used gas on 3/23/25 & deactivated our account on 4/9/25. Enbridge turned it back on 11/17/25. Our heat pump provided all our heating & cooling needs for 222 days with no gas backup (~60% of the year). 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋

And to add to the fact that renewables are faster to build, they are also cheaper to operate. Here's the latest LCOE estimates from Lazard that document this. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋

Here is the key figure from that article

And that is why efficiency matters. An air-source heat pump has a coefficient of performance of 2-3 compared with COP <= 1.0 for resistive electric heating or gas heating at cold temperatures. Using 1/3 or 1/2 the power can save you money! 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋

These costs do add up. Our bill ranges between $100 and $300 /mo. depending on how much electricity we are consuming. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋
November 16, 2025 at 4:07 PM
I can plot the generation charges the same way. I've plotted data for the alternative generation providers we have used along with the Ohio Edison Price to Compare Cost. That is the standard rate if you don't select an alternative provider. (About 25% of customers do not). 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋
November 16, 2025 at 4:07 PM
This is the relationship for the monthly Cost Recovery Charges as a function of consumption as kWh/day 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋
November 16, 2025 at 4:07 PM
Most folks realize that the generation costs vary with usage. But what might not be clear to some is that the Distribution and Cost Recovery charges do as well. Those charges vary with kWh usage depending on your generation rate. Here is how our distribution charges vary with kWh/day. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋
November 16, 2025 at 4:07 PM
So this seemed like a good time to reflect on how much we are actually paying for the various parts of our electricity bill. I track the amount per month, so can see how things break out. In Ohio, public utility users can select generation providers but can't switch the other charges. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋

From the article, global sales of EVs are up +8% Y-O-Y 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋

Despite continuing to build fossil fuel capacity, new renewable capacity added is allowing China to meet all or nearly all of their demand growth. Because renewables are cheaper to operate, they queue earlier than fossil fuel capacity. The outcome will thus be further reduction in emissions. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋
November 11, 2025 at 5:14 PM
China continues to build out solar & wind generation capacity at a record rate. In past years, they have shown a rapid, end of year uptick in deployment. We'll see if that happens this year as well. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋
