@morningjoe The world can thank America’s Nr 47 for the eastern political unity on display in China. How much of this realignment is real, durable and lasting remains to be seen but Putin will do down in history as the pariah to global peace successfully playing all sides of the political spectrum.

@nato NATO doesn’t need Russia’s permission to admit Ukraine. The land Russia wants is home to a largely Russian speaking population. Does it take a “PhD” to work out security for Ukraine? Admit Ukraine to NATO and work out the “BUTs”!

The counter demand to Putin can only be that Ukraine joins NATO in return for the Donbas region. As painful as that concession would be for Ukraine it would guarantee the safety and security of her people!

@morningjoe a great statesman with the political power of a US President would have started with China and ensure that they are on the side of peace in Ukraine before sitting down for a useless ego session with Putin!

@ThomasFriedmann However a person feels about Trump, one fact remains: the USA is gradually sliding into autocracy. Unless enough people with the power to make a political difference act to preserve Democracy, generations after us will ask: “ How could this have happened in America?!”
