Plz, no more apps. My children are disappearing.

@elaineburke.bsky.social and @earley.bsky.social are talking all about Ryanair’s app trap, Bluesky’s over-reach in moderation, looming threats to GDPR, and the signs from All’s Fair that microdramas are influencing TV.

All four Fine Gael MEPs voted with the far-right: Nina Carberry, Regina Doherty, Seán Kelly, Maria Walsh

Independent Ireland MEP Ciaran Mullooly also sided with the far-right

The centre-right abandoned talks with the greens, centre-left and liberals on an alternative deal
EU conservatives vote with far right to approve cuts to green rules
The outcome highlights the EPP’s willingness to abandon its traditional centrist coalition allies.

Here are the Irish MEPs who just sided with the far-right (fascists, racists, sexists, homophobes, climate deniers) from across the EU

They've voted to gut protections that would have made businesses check and report their supply chains for child labour, human rights abuse or nature destruction

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills: the emails from Landon Thomas has his New York Times signature block...he was employed by NY Times at the time. He was communicating directly with Epstein about Trump, and was given incriminating information about Trump. It's been in NYT's possession since 2015

it's always so sweet to see someone furthering their education just for the love of it without being burdened by the idea that they have to do it in order to boost their earning capabilities

Something being missed a bit in the coverage of Ryanair's shift to "100% digital" boarding (which it's not) is that they are actually limiting other digital formats and favouring only their app for access to passes, which isn't a neutral utility but a data collecting e-commerce machine.

until now i referred to it as the shop that sold the t shirts that said “i have the body of a god unfortunately it’s buddha” or “cover me in chocolate and throw me to the lesbians”

Spotify is crashing HARD because of the boycott. Their stock dropped 11% in value over the last month. Let’s keep this going!

Tell everyone you know to boycott Spotify. There are plenty of alternatives that don’t run ICE advertisements and screw over artists.

A reminder, if needed, that the ‘Regional Public Policy & Government Relations Lead’ of Airbnb is a former Labour (!) TD who represented Gaeltacht communities in Galway West.
There's no quicker way to kill a community than to drive out the young people. That's exactly what short term rentals do to places like the Gaeltacht. If young people have nowhere to rent locally they leave.

It's a problem for any small community that's attractive to tourists.
An 88 percent increase in the number of whole homes to rent in Gaeltacht areas on Airbnb – in just six years

'The history of the Gaeltachts as places of radical and forward thinking gets forgotten now when they've become a holiday destination,' say @CnaG
