Research shows that in the last 100 years, immigrants to the US
— go to jail less
— are employed more
— are married more
— live with children more
— are in better health

Than their US born counterparts. This holds true for every immigrant race as well.

The ABC News payout to Trump is so dangerous, bowing to the authoritarian even though they'd win the case. Just worried about losing access.

And no other corporate media are doing stories on the outcry about it. They'll just all fold. There are many other lawsuits from Trump & Co.

Israel is invading Syria.

While committing genocide in Gaza, settler terror in the West Bank & bombing raids on Lebanon, Israeli tanks roll into Damascus.

This is a system of oppression that knows no borders — yet the UK government parrots lines about “Israeli self-defence”.

Why is Romania able to cancel a democratic vote that was affected by Russian interference when UK politicians were unwilling to do so with the Brexit vote?

Maybe the UK should not have told Romanian's to "go home" and instead be learning from them?

Remember the NYT's obsessive coverage of the Clinton Foundation? There was never an iota of wrongdoing exposed, but the coverage made it *look* like there was. Meanwhile, foreign donors are sending millions directly to Trump, *after his election*, & NYT doesn't care.

Kash Patel has pledged to go after Trump’s political opponents, he’s spread conspiracy theories, he backed the effort to try to overthrow the 2020 election, he supports the Jan 6 rioters, he’s a QAnon believer, and he wants to destroy the FBI. It’s all in the public record. He’s dangerous & unfit.

Before you say so: Trump’s hush money prosecution can be in this category. The other ones cannot. In fact, the Georgia and Jan 6 cases were absolutely necessary to defend democracy: you have to punish heavily someone who tries to overturn electoral defeat. The problem there was excessive leniency.

I keep coming back to @adamprz.bsky.social: democracy is a system where parties lose elections. Anything that creates a tilted playing field that makes it hard for the opposition to win: that’s backsliding. Hunter Biden’s pardon is gross, but it’s not that.

That said, you can’t fault Biden entirely: Hunter’s prosecution and conviction were highly political, and the idea that Trump needs any precedent for anything is ridiculous.

One thing I find interesting about the echo chamber complaint is that an echo chamber just won a presidential election.

Put aside the convo of whether it’s “good” or “bad” for a moment. The far right has devoted enormous resources + time to building echo chambers & loathes spaces they don’t control
The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.
