a long, long overdue rewatch, and one that thankfully held up perfectly! out of all of his adaptations, i think this is the one where his style best synthesizes with the original work. as far as darker superhero stories goes, this is without a doubt the definitive one.

happy 20th anniversary to lady vengeance, my favorite movie of all time. the use of an endless oceans worth of silly and cool stylistic choices and all of the very dark comedy just to hide such a relentless feelbad ending is still perhaps the greatest trick ever put on film.
