After many years of anticipation (mainly by me), @drlarisa.bsky.social and I have a paper on the way people understand two mental state terms used in the criminal law -- "knowingly" and "recklessly" -- forthcoming in JEP:Applied. 1/

🎉 I DID IT! 🎉

I am thrilled to share that I successfully defended my dissertation! 📚✨

This wouldn't have been possible without the support of my mentors, peers, family, and friends. A special thank you to my advisor @drlarisa.bsky.social and committee for their guidance throughout this journey!

Was absolutely delighted to give a talk today in @fierycushman.bsky.social ‘s joint lab meeting! I presented on Black and White adults’ moral evaluations of ambiguous harms! It was a fantastic experience and received plenty of wonderful questions!

This paper was so cool to read as an undergrad and re-contextualize how we think about our understanding of prosocial behavior. And just as cool to see so many people committed to replicating the study and figuring out what’s actually at play.

1. Excited to share work in press at Child Development first-authored by Daniel Yonas (@dymoral.bsky.social)! Older kids & adults, but not younger kids, show greater curiosity about why transgressions - vs prosocial acts - occur. Details below, paper here: columbiasamclab.weebly.com/uploads/5/9/...
