Is the implication here that all non-white workers are somehow “foreign”? you can call this out as white supremacist propaganda, but it’s odd you went out of your way to sugar coat it.

These are voters that the dem party has largely taken advantage of for years. If we’re going to grow this base we have to build bridges, and we need more to reach Latino voters.

I hope they’re safe from this administration and I look forward to organizing alongside them in 2026.

I remember cringing when that episode aired. I knew it would age poorly, but trekkies were obsessed with him then so it wasn’t a common sentiment.

thank you for clarifying! I agree Europe balances diverse transit options better than the US. there’s a lot about our city planning that exacerbates the issue of cars and traffic. it will take time to improve, but i think we’re finally starting that journey.

Cars are an inefficient form of transit. If they prioritized vehicles in NYC all that would happen is the destruction of the city and worse traffic. The answer is improved public transportation and minimizing forced car dependency. This is the first step toward that.

Folk music is enriched by the struggle of america’s working class. You’ll find politics everywhere you look. Barbara Dane, who sadly passed away this year, represented this in her album “I Hate The Capitalist System”

Another 60s revival folk singer to check out is Terry Callier. I often describe his music as smooth flight where Callier gently carries you through the highs and lows. His cover of “900 Miles” is worth experiencing with your undivided attention.

Lead Belly is another artist that toured with Guthrie. He has no shortage of wonderful songs but Bourgeois Blues remains one of my favorites! It explores themes of racial and economic inequality in America’s capital.

The film features Baez’s cover of Phil Ochs “There But For Fortune” - It’s well worth checking out Ochs’ original! He was part of the folk revival of the 60s in New York. He met and competed with Dylan for folk fame. He later took his life in the 1970s.

Malvina Reynolds is a more well known folk singer! One of my favorite songs from her is “Faucets Are Dripping” about New Yorks housing conditions.
