The asymmetry in our politics is really jaw-dropping. If a Democrat legislature did this to a Republican it would be the absolute lead story absolutely everywhere with everyone falling all over themselves to condemn it

For most of the last decade, our media and political class has panicked over the idea that progressives were intruding on free speech rights by loudly criticizing people with unpopular views.

Anyway, here's far-right federal paramilitaries advertising that they'll rip down pro-immigrant messages.
ICE just posted this video taking down the sign in Mount Pleasant on Twitter.

Axios, particularly its social posts and emails, continues to be an administration mouthpiece. (Beware taking their social posts at face value.)

There certainly was room in this one to include the words "purports to" or "claims she can." Because she has no such authority.

It’s gone completely under the radar but Trump is set to start kicking out Ukrainians who came here legally under Biden as part of a program for people fleeing the war.

Given the admin is claiming a man with zero criminal charges or convictions is a “terrorist,” people need to start talking about how Trump is designing a path for him to send anyone to his what amounts to concentration camps for political undesirables.

The Trump Admin is using a texting app available to anyone with a cell phone to discuss highly secret war planning… and they’re doing it with all the attention of my friend who recently invited a “same name, wrong person” to a Discord chat ahead of a conference. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

@tommalinowski.bsky.social is right on the money here. There’s no reason to help Johnson out. Any Democrats lured to support his stance are just co-signing his efforts to abandon the Congress’s role as an equal and separate power to the President under our Constitution.
@tommalinowski.bsky.social is completely correct here. If Democrats provide the decisive votes to sanction Trump’s criminal government, it’ll be a historic failure of both principle and politics. newrepublic.com/article/1925...

even if your argument is that zelensky should take whatever deal is offered to end the war, you should still be mad at trump because it's clear he wants the war to continue. like what am I missing here? he's clearly blowing up the deal, probably to get something even better for putin down the line
Doocy: "I have been told by a senior official here that nothing is gonna happen with this minerals deal until Zelenskyy goes in front of cameras and makes an explicit public apology for the way he behaved in the Oval Office with that meeting."

Just a reminder: whenever a chucklefuck from the Midwest starts talking about the destruction of “Western Civilization” outside of a classroom environment, they are almost certainly pushing white supremacy.
JD Vance claims that efforts to suppress misinformation and hate speech "are going to destroy Western Civilization. They're gonna destroy Europe, and they would destroy the United States of America if we allowed them to fester. Thank God we have a president now who believes in free speech."

Something you don’t often see so perfectly: when people buy into the myth of strong men, they by their very nature assume that negative outcomes are the result of weak wills.

CHIP ROY: It began on Joe Biden's watch

COLLINS: Wait, you blame Joe Biden for the war?

ROY: This all started under Joe Biden

COLLINS: Putin started this war

This has distinct echoes of media coverage of Bush in 2002-2003, when lots of journos conspired to pretend that the stuff Bush was saying was based in real things, even though any 5 year old could see that there wasn't a shred of legitimacy to any of it
Pretty amazing to read news accounts implying that Trump's claim that he wants to "determine" if Zelensky is serious about peace before resuming aid to Ukraine is an actual intention on his part.

this agreement says the employee waives any claim he might have stemming from his employment OR the deferred resignation offer itself, which to me reads like they're saying that if you sign it, you waive your ability to sue them if they breach it
Federal employees have received a copy of the deferred resignation agreement.

Contains a lot of brow-raising lines such as, "Employee waives any claim that could be brought on Employee’s behalf by another entity, including Employee’s labor union."
