As the dust settles on Carney’s first budget, it’s become increasingly clear which Canadians he thinks need to make “sacrifices.”

Hint: it’s not the ultra-wealthy.

In fact, it’s clear why someone who still considers himself a
conservative feels at home in this Liberal government:

A quick explainer on Montreal’s election:

The urbanist Projet Montréal party of outgoing mayor Valérie Plante has lost the election to the opposition Ensemble Montréal.

Projet deserves a *lot* of credit for Montreal’s transformation in the past 10 or 15 years to be more bike/pedestrian-friendly.

The arrival of Transition Montréal is the only interesting thing about this municipal election

“Craig Sauvé has taken the radical approach of envisioning how Montreal might actually develop new transit on its own. Transition is also the only party advocating for a complete ban on Airbnb.”

Notre patrimoine de l’Expo 67 est menacé : aujourd’hui on a appris que la Spirale allait être démolie. En plus, la réfection de la Place des Nations a été annulée.

Il faut protéger notre patrimoine collectif et public.

Don't buy the canard that this is about Charlie Kirk. Abusing state power to lean on corporate leaders and get Jimmy Kimmel off the air because he told jokes about the president and made him feel bad was always the plan.

Canada’s Parliament just gave Charlie Kirk a standing ovation.

You can oppose political violence without rewriting the legacy of a man who did a lot of harm to vulnerable and marginalized communities.

But Canada’s politicians, some media and many employers don’t seem to entirely understand that:

This will kill people.

The Senate Banking Committee passed its first housing bill in over a decade. It'll boost housing supply and lower costs. Time to get this done.

And we must do more — including taking on consolidation in the housing sector and corporate landlords that hike up prices on families.

I don't think it can be understated that it feels like the entire globe is watching Canada tonight. Reuters, Aljazeera, and BBC all have live feeds happening and its their top story on the home page.

This does not feel normal and given the current global landscape, it's both ominous and humbling.
