I am developing a universal mtDNA sequencing workflow. So naturally I tested my Westies, Tia and Beau (AKA, the kids’ dogs). Results confirmed that Tia and Beau, being littermates, share a common maternal mtDNA haplogroup C2 lineage and are out-bread, making them healthier than other purebreds.

As my wonderful fiancé JoAnna Goldberg pointed out to me, this is my first BBQ since the arson —it feels like a step forward. I made a delicious dinner for myself and kiddo #2, and I’m quite proud of the color balance. I think my time in Morocco has definitely influenced my culinary palette!
