I think, with respect, you may have come to that conclusion a tad early. By definition if he keeps us up he's good enough. I'd respect the opinion more if you applied it to the long term future of the club. But players (as he and Bielsa have both proved) and managers can both improve.

And that's what's driving this. You don't want him to be the manager. I knew we'd get there in the end.
I don't know if he's good enough at this level. But I'm prepared to give him the opportunity to prove it one way or the other. He's earned that.

His job is multi faceted. In this instance you think the most important thing was for him to say something inspiring for the you and the fans and you are upset that he didn't read from your script. I get it. And you think I am the naive one...

I don't know what you want.
Staying up is not the bare minimum. Right now, its everything.
And his job is not to inspire you. His job is to inspire the team, so if this is a msg to them he is saying, "don't stress, we are on track, we got this"

He avoided the question. Very naughty. I'd disagree that he is trying to pass the buck. He's stating the criteria against which he can be judged a success or a failure. He could've set the bar at merely staying up.

He's not going to say his aim is higher and thereby give those of a critical bent a stick to beat him with is he? It seems half of those interested in us are just waiting for him to fail so they can have their prejudices confirmed. Staying up is our only sensible aim. Better to be honest.
