That's always been my assumption too! I'm going through this right now; currently writing a response to some reviewers' comments and hoping to have a contract by Christmas.

I'd have thought not? I've only ever submitted to one at a time, but I did notice recently that some publisher's submission forms have a section asking if you've sent the proposal somewhere else.

I remember my aunt received a leaflet like this when she had her hip replacement over twenty years ago, so it's nothing new and is just practical advice. Some people are just desperate to be performatively outraged by anything.

I'm so sorry Agnes, this is awful. I hope he's ok and receives the best care. Sending love to you and all the family x

But why Claire, why on Strava of all places?! I really don't understand the world now

Marvin Gaye's Here, My Dear is a peak 'fuck you' album, recorded largely to fund the divorce settlement from his first wife. I know some people rave about it, but I've always found it self-indulgent and pretty unlistenable

Yeah I got followed by a couple of clearly fake profiles a while back, with odd names and absolutely no activity history. Perhaps they were selling scam places, like you say, but I just ignored them.

Bizarre isn't it. I've had a few add me recently. What's the point?

I took my son to a high school open evening last week, and he and his mate were loudly delighted to be sitting in seats 6 and 7 for the head's talk. Then, when we walked round the classrooms loads of visiting kids had scrawled 6 and 7 on various whiteboards. I'm not sure it's going anywhere just yet

I think there'd have been a lot more attention if this were Scotland and the SNP, ie what does this mean for independence etc. I get the sense from coverage of this election that people are only interested in Welsh politics if it functions as a stand-in for UK/Whitehall concerns.

I watched Tranmere a lot in the late 90s, when Dave Challinor was pioneering this. The excitement whenever Tranmere got a throw even midway into the opposing half was something else, not least because he caused absolute chaos. The long throw was completely new and teams had no idea how to defend it

'Fatalism' is absolutely bang on. I completely agree with all the factors you mention, but still find it incredible that this the pervasive feeling just over a year after an election victory, in a party with a huge Parliamentary majority!

And that's precisely the area that this person comes from: a Northern town where Reform is surging and will be a big threat at the next election. I didn't want to push it, as he wasn't at work, but I found the lack of ideas or urgency really worrying.

I get that affiliate unions have skewed this, and deputy leadership elections on their own aren't inspiring, but it still isn't great. I was speaking to someone in Labour recently, who said grassroots was 'moribund' (his word), and when I asked what they were going to do about it he just shrugged 🤷🏻‍♂️

16% turnout 😳

Yes, though you're not alone! I know two other City fans who attended every home match for years, but hardly go now and are really torn about what the club's become.

It seems a lot people have had enough of elite football to the extent they're just tuning it out completely. It makes me sad; but then I know the clubs themselves couldn't care less.
October 19, 2025 at 10:16 AM
but I don't try and get tickets or take any real interest in them either now. I won't be watching Utd game later and really need to just cancel my tv subscription. I also know a couple of City fans who hate what the club's become and half-joke (or genuinely hope?) they get relegated.

Congratulations! That's excellent news and it sounds like a fantastic project
