But do I think that directive from on high is clouding sporting judgement at times? Absolutely.

I don't think ownership is making individual roster decisions - I do think think they are emphasizing the importance of high character players, players who want to be involved in the community, players with families who they feel hungry to support, etc. Not bad things in a vacuum by any means.

I'm not suggesting Hackworth is without blame, but I think constantly blaming bad moves on him is absolutely cope.

There is a pattern of this stuff regardless of who is perceived to be making decisions in the FO - are we at the point yet where we're ready to accept this may be what ownership wants?

Do you genuinely think Wray didn't approve this and that Hackworth acted alone?

If he did approve it, what would possibly be his motivation other than keeping "character" guys around being a top priority of team ownership.

Blaming Hackworth (and letting Wray off the hook) for these same types of decisions being made across 3 SDs is unrivaled levels of cope.

This "feel good" mentality around roster decisions reeks of ownership who watch too much Ted Lasso.

Absolutely inexcusable and indefensible. He let up and realized he was going to get beat to the ball and had to make up for it. Just atrocious stuff.

It always felt to me that this might be what happened after the "brand" was more established. They use this secondary crest all over the stadium already, so it felt like they might have been preparing for an eventual switch without having to redo a bunch of stuff.
