November is a month in college basketball to figure out lineups, assess, and a good time to teach-to-tape. Even with victories over a tougher than advertised Texas team and Kansas, there were still questions about the Duke Blue Devils. The thought was that a turkey day matchup with John Calipari's Arkansas team would answer a few of those questions about this iteration of the Duke Blue Devils.

Duke men’s basketball head coach Jon Scheyer announced the signing of three players in the Blue Devils’ 2026 recruiting class during the NCAA early signing period. So after having some time to reflect on this iteration of the Champions Classic Duke vs Kansas I have to admit I came away impressed with both teams. Duke wrestled the game away from Kansas 78-66, but the most impressive thing about this game was the sticktoitiveness of both teams. I was anxiously awaiting to see how Duke would come out against Army, a team that, despite there being an obvious talent and size disparity, would fight the Blue Devils to the best of their ability until the final buzzer. True to form Army was scrappy, especially in the first half of the game, catching Duke off guard a few times with how willing they were to pull the trigger from nearly anywhere on the court, and when Duke would play overly aggressive on the perimeter to try to mitigate that, they'd backdoor cut.
