Custom 3d model of the sword Blackfyre from A Song of Ice and Fire for Mount & Blade Bannerlord, done to the client's specification. Don't ask me why the dragon is gold and not black, I just made it according to the concept I was given.

A 3d model trying to largely reproduce a timurid sword from the first half of the 15th century

Anyway I put them in mount & blade

3d model of a turco-persian helmet from the late 15th century. The calligraphy matches the original thanks to the extensive pictures present on the MET website, though I still am not entirely sure what it says lol. I also made a plain version next to it for some variety

More drawing, this time of how I envision the oblivion styled orc armour would've developed by the time of skyrim. I was going to decorate the plates but it felt too out of my league, maybe at some point.

I've been wanting to redesign skyrim armour for a while, and decided that it was as good of a reason as any to get into drawing so here's my first drawing I've done since I was a kid. I based it on morrowind armour mixed with golden horde stuff because I felt it fit with the mask.

Helmets from the 11-13th centuries such as from Babichi or Verkhne-Yachenkov, while different, likely shared some part in influencing the latter helmets as well. These helmets are generally attributed to have been in use by nomads such as Cumans, but also potentially by the Rus themselves.
December 20, 2024 at 2:26 PM
This helmet has in fact very little to do with the 11th century, and even less to do with Normans. It is an eastern european type of helmet of which there's at least 7 other examples. They're dated around the 13-14th centuries and belong to the Golden Horde - though likely coming from the Caucasus.
December 20, 2024 at 2:22 PM
A helmet attributed as Norman, given various datings from the 9-12th century based on said attribution. The helmet was reconstructed with a nasal added onto it in the 20th century with resin, either by someone who believed it had lost one or by someone who wanted to pass it off as something it isn't

Both the Valsgärde 8 ocular for example and the Yarm ocular share their overall form. A central nasal bar, attached at the front of the brim and the front of the ocular, which in turn attaches on the inside of the skull. The eyebrows on the Valsgärde helmets are separate to the ocular itself.
December 6, 2024 at 10:09 PM
However, this is likely not the case. Let's talk about why. The first reason is the construction of the skull - the Yarm skull has the same construction as a few 6-8th century helmets, such as for example the Coppergate helmet (pic 1) or the Groningen helmet (pic 2). Usually known as a 'bandhelme'.
December 6, 2024 at 10:04 PM
At first glance the dating was reasonable. After all it does somewhat resemble the famous example from Ghjermundbu, one of the most complete finds of a 10th century helmet that we have. And so that was the dating established for the Yarm helmet by the initial examination
December 6, 2024 at 10:00 PM
Let's talk a bit about the Yarm helmet. First uncovered in the 1950s, it took nearly 70 years for a proper examination of the helmet to be released. Up until 2020 many dismissed this helmet as a potential fake, but the article established its authenticity. However, it dated it to the 10th century.

why would jerma do this

This is a top contender for why Godinho is one of the most fun fencing masters - next to Fiore of course with his made-up arrogant persona and also his blinding powder in his pollaxe which according to him might permanently blind someone.

The mail hauberk from Berane, modern day Montenegro, has recently been restored. In the accompanying paper the interesting judgement is made that this armour likely is Ottoman or under Ottoman influence, which is pretty neat if that's the case.

Been playing a mod for Bannerlord called Anno Domini Dark Ages which is basically a mod that aims to bring slightly more historical aesthetics to the native factions. Currently they've overhauled most factions except the Aserai and Khuzaits so I took it upon myself to outfit the khuzaits

Interesting pair of helmets I saw during my visit to Livrustkammaren. Hard to see but the left one seemed to have arabic script, though I could not make out whether it was real or just a fake imitation of it.

Helmets are very eastern in style. Wonder if they were made as a political gift.

The finial is so silly that I really want to see it portrayed, it'd be a shame not to
November 18, 2024 at 5:03 PM
The short of it is that it doesn't share similarity in shape, tailoring or rivet patterns to other european brigandines but it does resemble an example from the Hermitate museum in St Petersburg, of which M.V. Gorelik attributed a Tatar origin. Sadly no good pictures of it exist besides these.
November 13, 2024 at 5:31 PM
A brigandine held in the Swedish Royal Museum. Attributed as 16th century and potentially of Swedish make by the museum.

However, I believe this attribution to be potentially faulty, and instead consider it a pretty distinct possibility this is of eastern - potentially Crimean Tatar - origin.

Right, I've yet to introduce myself on this page. Anyway I'm a trans girl who's way into some historical stuff (largely arms and material/art culture). I also have a vtuber you can see below though I have not been streaming regularly lately. I do 3d art stuff sometimes too

A helmet found in a nomadic grave from Csengele, dated likely to the early 14th century. The helmet likely belonged to a Cuman but shows clear Golden Horde design, indicating that its owner might've been a mercenary under the Horde.
