I think it spawned from Conan O'Brien's "Walker Texas Ranger Lever." When NBC got the rights to the show after the merger with Universal, O'Brien did this bit where he'd pull a lever behind his desk, and then a silly moment from the show would appear onscreen. youtu.be/XpIEyn9G6_8?...
