That's an excellent point, since so much of this is hype masquerading as actual advance in the technology, which is, of course, a rhetorical strategy meant to decenter and devalue actual human writing as a means of creating knowledge.

Which brings me back to my original answer to your excellent question. What's purportedly being solved is the "problem" of being human itself. A claim that implicitly and explicitly dispenses with the human by claiming (though failing) to surpass it. Thanks again for this evergreen question!
