An outside-the-box pick for best picture, but the film of the year is Jane Schoenbrun’s I SAW THE TV GLOW, a meditation on dysphoria, repression, and representation that creates its own cinematic language, all neon-chalked streets, electrified static, and stifled metamorphic potential. It’s immense.

I think a good sign of how successful The Substance was at taking down beauty standards imposed on women is how the film has become a shorthand for people to talk about famous women who had plastic surgery. I see videos doing before and afters with the film's soundtrack. Great job!
