So much credit to the violence interrupters who subject themselves to retraumatization and danger daily to save lives. www.nytimes.com/2021/01/18/u...

There’s also Fare Fair, the huge number of metrocards distributed by shelters, city contracted social service agencies etc. We are already paying for many people to ride just in an incredibly inefficient manner.

there's already a whole splintered bureaucracy at work getting people who can't afford the fare on transit - social services, legal aid, shelters etc. spend so much time and money getting metrocards to clients (plus Fare Fair administration) - free buses would be so much easier

And public subsidization (~$120 million) is something NYC is already doing - without much impact - a five store pilot only costs about half that.

Someone could write a story about Zohran’s Jewish volunteers who were mocked, harassed and told they weren’t real Jews on the streets and at the doors but I guess we’re not really Jewish New Yorkers.

And this is why we say they are not workers - the right to beat inmates to death and hold pregnant women in solitary confinement is not a worker’s right issue.

Unless we want a Mayor Cuomo (which we should not) this has to be slow rolled until 3/26. Even as an abolitionist I wanna see Adams perp walked from Gracie Mansion to Rikers - but not until 3/27.

As someone who despises Adams with all my heart, I really hope the Dems slow walk this until 3/26 so we avoid a special election. I don't really understand Lander's commission play, unless that can be dragged out for a month.

That people are writing this and you need to defend yourself is sickening. Many of us know how much you tried, thank you for your principled stance and your bravery. I’m sorry you have to deal with this on top of the pain of what is happening in Palestine.
