Fascinating that Trump is so dedicated to upending the neoliberal order that Reagan constructed but equally dedicated to ensuring his base does not notice / acknowledge this.

This is excellent news! One real issue we face in environmentalism is “shifting baseline” blindness where every new generation accepts a more barren world as “normal” with no knowledge of past biodiversity already lost.

There’s no such thing as “counter-gerrymandering” it’s the same thing!!! Less democracy is still bad when your party does it… which should be obvious for people always complaining about structural barriers to 3rd parties!
This is what I mean by the left is increasingly adopting the mentality and ideologies of the right because they won't acknowledge they also have fallen for propaganda. The "it's ok when we do it" mentality is dangerous and just reinforces oppressive systems.

It’s always interesting to visit cities in California with FAR better public transit than I’ve ever experienced. All I hear from locals are complaints (not good faith critiques) and it kinda pisses me off.

I would say that the biggest improvement to my daily life in the past few years has come from carrying a purse. Got one for a trip to Europe last summer and I’ve never looked back. 10/10 would recommend for any gender

Congestion pricing in NYC has been a policy miracle. It has dramatically reduced air and noise pollution, saved drivers time money and New Yorker *lives.* There has been a ~50% reduction in injury crashes in the congestion relief zone. Pricing driving delivers better transportation for *everyone.*

Ok now that a few weeks have passed… disappointed that #Andor followed the looooong tv tradition of killing off gay woman for cheap emotional payoff

Congestion pricing was designed to finance more than $15 billion in critical transit upgrades in New York City. Those investments will take years. But the parallel changes at street level are already apparent. Here’s what we know so far. nyti.ms/4mbuGg0

Higher education is under attack politically in the US. But it is also being pummeled by growing illiteracy rates among students. As a professor, that is a truly exhausting combination.

My latest Forbes article is all about SUVs. Specifically, it delves into two new research papers - one from traffic engineering, and one from public health - that shows how these increasingly-popular (and increasingly large) vehicles come with major downsides 🧪

SUVs Make Traffic Worse And Are More Dangerous Than Cars
Two new research papers show the downsides of upsizing our vehicles. SUVs have a disproportionate impact on traffic jams, and they injure more people than cars
