A German tale tells of how the colourless snow once begged the flowers to share their colours with it but they jealously refused. All but the humble Snowdrop who eagerly shared it's bright white colour with the snow.

In return the snow afforded the little Snowdrop protection from the cold ❄️🩵

After 2 years of work, I've finally taken delivery of an actual printed copy of my second book 'The Magic of an Irish Rainforest: A Visual Journey'.

I've done my best to capture the essence of these priceless, but mostly dying, ecosystems, and am over the moon with the results. 🌎

This needs to change, or the way will be opened to fascism. As we're already seeing in many places.
Voting is virtually (and maybe literally) never about getting the ideal government. It’s about minimizing damage, relative to the available alternatives.

The weather is terrible today and the forecast for the next few days is not great. That's good news. In Irish folklore it is said that if the weather is bad at Imbolg, the Cailleach is asleep, the winter will end quickly and usher in Spring.

Some different types of Brigit's cross
February 1, 2025 at 2:23 PM
Most people are familiar with the the four leg Brigid's Cross. This because RTE, the national television station in Ireland used it as a logo for about 30 years.
There are many variations of Brigid's Crosses associated with different regions
The diamond or lozenge cross is associated with Munster.

Imbolc is not the same thing as St Brigid's day
The Feast of Saint Brigid is Feb 1st. Imbolc is Feb 2nd. The proximity between the two, plus the fact that the Irish start celebrating festivals the evening before they begin, might be why people conflate the two.
