42 million people could lose SNAP benefits, starting 11/1. SNAP is a lifeline to many people struggling with addiction or returning home after incarceration. Cutting SNAP puts another barrier in their way, limiting chances at successful recovery & reentry. Take action: protect SNAP bit.ly/3JvkYXf

Nearly 9 in 10 Americans back legalization—but federal punishment won’t end until marijuana is descheduled. Only then will people be free from arrest, losing homes/jobs & businesses get protections. Moving marijuana to Schedule III keeps criminalization in place engage.drugpolicy.org/secure/tell-...

Methadone is one of the most studied, safest, & most effective medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), cutting overdose risk by about half. But due to strict regulations, it’s only available through federally approved opioid treatment programs. Learn more at drugpolicy.org/resource/med...

These parents lost children to overdose or have kids living with addiction. Their message is clear: care saves lives, not wars.

People use drugs for many reasons — including to manage physical or emotional pain.

If we want real solutions, our response has to start with addressing the root causes of addiction, not just the symptoms. That's why we advocate for more treatment, health services, economic security, and housing

Stephen Murray’s journey to stability began with support, not punishment. Forcing people into treatment can worsen outcomes and increase overdose risk. With high costs and long waitlists, many struggle to get help. That’s why he calls for accessible care grounded in healing, dignity, and safety

We are heartbroken by the passing of Louise Beale Vincent, Executive Director of the National & NC Survivors Unions. A fierce leader in harm reduction, she worked with compassion and courage to save lives and inspire countless others. She will be deeply missed.

The MORE Act was reintroduced in Congress! It would deschedule marijuana to end federal criminal penalties, repair harms of criminalization, help ensure a fairer industry & so much more. We passed it in the House before—help us do it again by taking action engage.drugpolicy.org/secure/tell-...

Most (88%) of Americans support legal marijuana. Ending federal criminalization is the only step that honors the will of the people. Sign our petition urging the Trump administration to deschedule marijuana now. engage.drugpolicy.org/secure/tell-...

We all want safer streets. But instead of investing in what works—housing, treatment, mental healthcare, & community support—President Trump is proposing to put people into prisons or detentions centers instead, while cutting funding & access to Medicaid, housing, & healthcare.

Deeply saddened by the passing of James "Fergie" Ferguson II: civil rights leader, fierce racial justice advocate, and founding DPA board member. His legal work desegregated schools nationwide. He challenged us to not only end the war, but to repair harms and build a world towards peace.

Trump says he wants to keep Americans safe from fentanyl. Yet instead of investing in health-based solutions that save lives, Trump cuts their funding & doubles down on punitive policies that put lives at risk. Share if you agree that Trump’s actions speak louder than his words.

The message from parents to Congress is clear: invest in health, treatment, and overdose prevention NOW, don’t gut funding. We joined a group of parents - who’ve lost children to overdose or have children living with addiction - to advocate for the services they know save lives.

Many people who seek addiction treatment can’t access it due to barriers such as insurance denials, month-long wait times, and a lack of providers. Treatment must be more accessible and available on demand for those who seek and need it.
