Two-and-a-half years ago, I left academia to return to the clinical setting. Life happened and I need a change. Watching this circus act of a presidency makes me sick. My heart goes out to all my academic friends. I’m rooting for you and supporting you however I can.

Very bad news late last week from CDC about maternal mortality in the USA - it continues to go up. The leading cause of death for #pregnant people in 2020 and 2021 was infectious diseases, especially #COVID.

Now that I’m settled in the OB quality world, I’d love to start writing again. I’ve always enjoyed writing but it became stressful when the expectation was to publish like a machine. Being able to write on my own terms is glorious. My goal is to submit one peer-reviewed article next year.

I’m sorry but what is a “skeet” as it relates to this site? No funny business, lest you be blocked swiftly (and potentially reported to law enforcement).

Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers.

Day two on the app. So far, so good. Very reminiscent of my decade on the bird app. Still looking for #maternalhealth #OBGYN peeps. I’m slowly but surely finding everyone else.

Since leaving that other app a few years ago, I relocated from Philly to Texas and left academia to work in OB quality. My PhD didn’t prepare me for this type of work. It’s a whole new world, which I love but am still getting used to. Had I know I’d be doing this work, I would have become a CNS.

Black Georgians face the highest risk for pregnancy complications. They are also more likely to face barriers to accessing timely, respectful care, according to the CDC.

I’m new! Here to connect with all my #NurseTwitter and #AcademicTwitter peeps. I’m back in the clinical setting now, so connecting with other in-patient clinician researcher would be great, as well.
