I think the language was badly chosen & have written a piece (forthcoming) on why. Starmer did not quote Enoch Powell. He did use the word 'strangers'. Powell used this word too. They made different arguments using the word. The idea it was an intentional echo is highly implausible & 99.99999% not

Plans for integration of employment and mental health support into NHS care as well as a “right to try” scheme are very welcome.
There has been a huge increase in those struggling with their mental health and investment in prevention and supporting people to work should obviously be a priority.

Also the obvious answer is for the RFU to start doing its job and getting state schools playing rugby. Dependency on private school pupils was entirely avoidable.

It is possible to recognise the political reality and acknowledge defense spending needs to rise whilst also knowing international development is immensely valuable, important, and ultimately beneficial to all parties and feel sad and frustrated that it's being cut.

Important to highlight that private school fees have risen around 50% since 2010.
During that time the gap between private and state school funding has grown year on year. Which begs the question, if private schools are reporting they don’t now have enough, how have our state schools been managing?

It is far from clear that Labour yet know what to do about improving the NHS. The Darzi Review is fine: it tells health experts nothing they didn’t already know.
Its main, unstated purpose is about the allocation of political blame. It does that quite effectively.
