Just a GP (primary care physician) in East London, UK with a few other roles.
Views, mine only.
A reminder:

NHS England abolished.

Is this an opportunity to review health strategy, investment in General Practice to focus on prevention, health tech and importantly, training and workforce planning which has resulted in doctors looking for jobs while patients are looking for doctors.

Country is short of GPs.

We need more GPs.

Lack of money to recruit GPs

Focus on primary care is how we sustain the #NHS .

GPs spend years training.

My email and WhatsApp inboxes are full of many GP trainees concerned about job opportunities after qualification

Good morning from #TeamGP .

Another day of on call, triaging & supporting patients.

General Practice will be dealing with about 1.5 million contacts today.

Yet, it remains out of focus for policy makers whose attention is firmly on reactive healthcare. Difficult to sustain.

Good morning from #TeamGP .

Day of on call with the incredible team @BBB_Health .

General Practice is the foundation of #NHS .

We need more GPs to look after patients who need us.

There are GPs looking for jobs and we currently don’t have funds to employ them permanently.

Another SCA prep days for our London GP Registrars. Led by Anwar Khan, Ash Shastri and moi.

Full day of interactive session with RCGP SCA examiners, professional role players and linguist.

Privilege to play a small part in helping to train the next generation of GPs.

Good morning from #TeamGP

Morning coffee with oat milk ✅

Morning dad joke ✅

Ready for on call/triage session with our amazing team @BBB_Health .

Usual reminder that the vast majority of patient contacts in the #NHS takes place in GP. We need more GPs & funding for them.

Probably not the best example.

Several patient journeys, unnecessary investigations, adding to cost.

Would’ve been ideal to say patient to see GP, who can decide with them about the best course of action.

Happy new year.

Back to usual in #TeamGP .

On triage with another senior GP. Working with an amazing multi disciplinary team & Resident doctors.

Each vital for patient care.

Our model is, a senior GP triages & books/signposts patient with appropriate clinician/service.

Morning walk reflection.

I support 100s of IMG GP trainees through 🇬🇧 GP training.

Internationally, our post graduate medical training has great reputation given robust professional standards and nationally based competencies.

Professional standards built over decades

Inclusiveness of team members with different viewpoints.

Having a change mindset.

Critically reviewing data & evidence

Evaluation and reflective approach.

Anything else crucial for those in medical leadership?

At the James Mackenzie Lecture @rcgp tonight.

Listening to the amazingly insightful lecture by the one and only @kamleshkhunti on

‘Social Determinants of Cardiometabolic Diseases in Ethnic Minority Populations’.

More research needed but there are solutions we can implement.

#TeamGP OOH today.

Patient who I saw as a child with their parent, now with children of their own, wanting to see me because they have great memories of care provided.

The concept of family doctor is a powerful one for patients. This continuity of care is better for us in General Practice too.

On call all day in #TeamGP .

Got a great team serving our patients, from reception to clinical to management.

We are deeply rooted in our communities. But, that’s at risk of being torn away with ongoing lack of support for General Practice.

Latest being lack of NI increase support.

RCGP AGM starts in less than 10 mins.

Please join if you are a member.

Particular concern is Special Resolution 4 which seeks to increase the number of appointed lay members to the Trustee Board.

Majority of those who elected me to RCGP Council have asked that we reject this motion.
