A friend found this photo from the Jamaican Observer on Facebook of a blocked road in the town where my sister (who I haven’t heard from since Tuesday) lives. I can’t imagine how long this will take to clear & how many more spots like this there are up the mountain. 😵‍💫

Eli Clare is one of my favorite disabled writers. His work has impacted me for many years now. I’m so excited that this new offering from Clare is now out with @dukepress.bsky.social

Don’t mind me, just going down a weird ex-Catholic rabbit hole today

It’s my birthday! I celebrated last night w/ local loved ones in my rainbow best. You can celebrate me by sending words of affirmation/appreciation and/or by donating to my fav local non-profits: Rape Crisis Center, Wisconsin Abortion Fund, @gsafewi.bsky.social, & @communication608.bsky.social.

I put some scrap pieces of rainbow window cling on my sunroof and it’s so ridiculously delightful to drive around covered in rainbows on a sunny day.

The world is shit but this picture @reverenceintimates.bsky.social took of me while glamping is incredible. Please enjoy.

I’m unplugging as much as I can for a self-created writing retreat the next three days. I’ll be here in a little cabin in the woods, working on my book. Don’t let anything unprecedented or historic happen while I’m gone, ok?

It’s been a while but my croton is blooming now! Teeny tiny yellow flowers

Let me go soak in the giant tub in my hotel room instead of continuing to engage with people’s projections before I need to pack up and fly home.

I went to a bonsai workshop at the local botanical garden & got to create my own little juniper bonsai! It was a really enjoyable experience. I love that you have to work with the existing plant to make something interesting & beautiful. Any bonsai folks out there wanna share advice for newbies?

I did sparkle freckles for my look tonight and now I’m putting off going to bed because they’re so pretty and I don’t want to take them off.

Ok last post about this but before I blocked her she posted this and it made me laugh bc the only person I was fucking at that writing retreat was a woman.
May 15, 2025 at 7:59 AM
I’ve blocked this person now but I wish I had gone to her bio before even interacting bc anyone who uses the term “heterophobes” & says they’ll block folks who say negative things about white people is…let’s just say not worth my time. 🙃

Plant people: this plant I’ve had for years (received as a gift) appears to be flowering. Anyone know what kind of plant it is?

Winner. Finally got a crispy crust that held together & cut like a pie. This is my new favorite breakfast prep for the week. I live solo so this is like 4-5 breakfasts!

I’m making a potato crust quiche for the third time and I’m really hoping I will get a crisper crust. Before it was delicious but didn’t hold like a quiche crust typically would. I’m doing sausage, onion, pepper and spicy cheddar as filling. 😋 It’s going in the oven now!

Kayak season is back & I couldn’t be happier

There are a lot of things that are hard or weird about living in Wisconsin as someone who grew up in Kentucky, but the cheese really is incredible. Just picked up my little 1/4lb of Hooks 20 year cheddar & I’m so stoked. Wisconsin has definitely made me a little bit of a cheese snob. 😆

Werewolf head update: Still there 24 hrs later, though facing a slightly different direction than when I last passed it. Also it’s now soaking wet in the rain.

I walked 2 blocks out of my way in the rain after breakfast just to see if it was still there. 😆

Breakfast was delicious. Werewolf head still on the street when I went back to my hotel.

Please give me your imagined story behind this werewolf mask by a sewer grate I saw on the street on my way to breakfast

I say this because if you compare it to the Supreme Court voting map right now you can see way more diversity across the state than the referendum. Anyway, fuck that man’s bribes & the way it totally exhausted political spending & energy for a state election.
April 2, 2025 at 2:29 AM
Not to be a downer bc I’m glad the WI Supreme Court race is turning out like it is. Huge relief. That said, so much energy & money was spent on that race that I think there wasn’t enough effort to educate about the voter referendum outside of the political left & politically active Madison area.

A little silly joy for you. I bought this for $3 at Five Below this weekend and it has already brought me $300 worth of giggles.
