This was such a great conference to attend. Energising, connecting and learning… we brought back so much learning to share with our colleagues. Thank you @deependgp.bsky.social
Early Xmas present...

9mins of Hope, Joy, Inclusivity, Kindness, and Advocacy - the themes of the Deep End conference held in Glasgow earlier this year.

(Thought this would be appropriate for our #firstpost #MedSky #AcademicSky - Enjoy!)

Listening to Sir Chris Witty about people who inspired him… key feature is persistence. Importantly talking about policies should focus on how to impact those in the most deprived areas to make meaningful change in health prevention.

Great to hear Sarah Slater talking about innovative approaches to increase school vaccination uptake. Focussed in areas of deprivation. #nephconf24

#nephconf24 Professor Kevin Fenton addresses the conference talking about the complex times for health of the population. Important to highlight the impacts of structural racism and the climate crises. Professor Fenton argues we need new ways of working to deal with complexity

The Assisted Dying bill currently before Parliament makes worrying reading. Here's a reminder about the gaps in services recently identified by the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome & Death, for people with limited life expectancy.
The timing of this bill is simply wrong.
Timely report into current planning & coordination of end of life care: National Confidedential Enq into Pt Outcomes & Death shows gaps in services, breaching 2019 NICE guidance for commissioning & providing adequate, timely planning & delivery of #EoL care & access to palliative care teams.

Deep End NENC issues resonate with Dr Butler and NI colleagues. We are piloting interventions to tackle some of the issues he highlights, such as mental health provision and increasing the no. of GP training practices in the Deep End.
Why do GPs choose to work 'at the Deep End'? Research shows it can be clinically stimulating and rewarding, as well as challenging.
