My new paper is now available - we evaluated government mandated activity statements sent to all online wagering customers - they are helping those who struggle to control their gambling, but improvements could be made

I spoke with Mike Jeffreys at 2GB about financial stress driving gambling.

Our research shows chasing losses and wins is more likely in groups with lower financial wellbeing. Ill-founded hopes for gambling wins to solve financial crises may motivate excessive gambling

The NSW Government has moved to ban gambling advertising on public transport.

This is an important move to reduce exposure for all to gambling advertising and the normalisation and endorsement of this by government through accepting revenue from advertising.

My latest paper looks at how and why people use voluntary deposit limits.

We found that most online sports bettors see deposit limits as useful and good practice, but these are for those who can't control their gambling

Barriers to use include not knowing what limit to set

My research looking at consumer attitudes towards account-based gambling has been released. Harm minimisation tools are seen as beneficial but any system will need ti be mandatory to be used. www.smh.com.au/national/nsw...
