Spring Flowers

If what remains is in the third photo, then it's not felled, but pollarded. In this case, unitentionally. Looking at it, it's been pollarded at that level in the past. It'll be fine, it out live all our grandchildren. Significant trees have often been pollarded, to mark a boundary.
