There’s very clearly expressed love for all the antecedents. You can feel it, and see it in how the returning characters are portrayed.

Also, this discovery of theirs isn't going to make them any less conservative; their conservatism is only a little bit based on trying to appeal to conservative men, the rest appears to be sincerely held belief in their own superiority.
