“a teenager with a homeless parent” what the fuck are you people even doing over there
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

An all-timer for sure
When I was 37 I was dating a woman who was 19. The thing that inspired me to break things off was hearing Pearl Jam's "Alive" on the radio - a song released 9 years before her birth she had never heard . In that moment I realized things would never work.

Trump’s threat to use military force against Nigeria sparked a crisis that Beijing quickly turned to its advantage. China stepped in to defend Nigerian sovereignty and picked up a soft power win while Washington lost ground, writes Mandira Bagwandeen
Nigeria and the U.S.-China-Geopolitics of a ‘Guns-a-Blazing’ Threat
The first few days of November delivered a powerful, if chilling, lesson in contemporary geopolitics for Abuja. When the U.S. President, Donald Trump, fresh from re-designating Nigeria as a “Country o...

Once again Larry Summers, Treasury Secretary of Lolita Express frequent flyer and President of the United States of America Billiam Jefferson Clinton, as president of Harvard, told a group of people that women are genetically incapable of doing advanced maths. This is the rotten core of our politcs.
You just know that “Did Women Ruin the Workplace?” bit would have done NUMBERS in this little clique
Something absolutely perfect about Larry Summers riffing about the scourge of woke cancel culture being unfair to predatory men in a friendly email to his pal JEFFREY EPSTEIN.

the point of camo for a soldier is to obscure their position from the enemy. camo in an urban environment is completely different, and this forest green or desert pattern is functionally useless.

police only dress this way to project an image of power they should not have.

I remember when the militarization of Police was an issue in 2005. Now it's ubiquitous.
I simply refuse to accept that police ever have to look like this. this is just pure cosplay. it should be illegal for cops to be dressed like soldiers going to war.

Of course, the angle is focused on the response, and not the deliberate and clear provocation by Japan's PM.
Belatedly, the Times catches up to this story (thanks to the great Andy Higgins). They missed the very tense meeting between Xi and Takaichi in Korea which really set the stage for all this.

American fascism? that's China's fault, too. They made us do it! She was asking for it.
The political historian Carl Schmitt, who supported and assisted the rising Nazi dictatorship, would not have been surprised by the U.S. turn toward illiberalism, writes Benn Steil. “It is his version of history that is currently playing out in the United States.”
