If you live on the US east coast corridor please keep your eye out for native fruit/flower passiflora incarnata! ie the passionflower, or Maypop! This vine grows fast and looks CRAZY inside but tastes and smells like apricot/passionfruit. The flowers bloom for 1 day and are magnets for hummingbirds

The two main love interests of the graphic novel Blue Hollow, Onion and Bill, share an intimate moment. Onion, a wizard, has walked down out of a gnarled oak tree to greet Bill, who pulls him close, as if just before or just after a kiss. Onion is followed by an array of creatures both normal and supernatural, butterflies landing on his footprints.

The Red Forest. A casualty of Chernobyl, it is one of the most radioactive sites on earth. The red coloration comes from the mostly dead trees, putting the site at high risk of fire. As the radiation is mostly soil-bound, forest fires kick up radiation into the atmosphere and spread it on the wind 😬

The Goblin Forest, New Zealand. Comprised mostly of Kamahi trees, a species which grows off the trunks of other trees, this forest exhibits extremely dense and strange branch patterning. However, it's the hanging mosses, liverworts and ferns coating the bark that gives it it's unique fantasy appeal.

The Dancing Forest, Russia. This forest is comprised of many twisty, curly pines, once built on a sand dune to prevent erosion. The reason for their shape is debated: Caterpillars? Wind? Sand? Humans? Local legend has it that long ago older trees danced here to prove the power of the Christian God.

Finally found some space for my hanging rack, which had been stuck in a corner in my room for 5 years and has now become functional. Do I have room for more stuff? Signs point to NOPE!

Lake Kaindy is a valley lake made by flooding in Kazakhstan, whose water is so cold that it preserved the spruce trees that grew in the valley for over 100 years. Underworld environmental design drop for you!

the boy and Onion exchange silent looks. However, the boy soon gives his clothes a silent, snotty look of judgement, and Onion grow hurt and defensive, though he still refuses to speak. the boy: hey... jethro. have we met somewhere before? Onion, now fully angry, takes a step closer to confront him, but George's hand hits his shoulder at the last second, holding him back. George: OH GREAT, YALL MET ALREADY? don't let him scare you off, this spooky spectre is just richard hargrove, the owner's nephew. And that thing is william. Both boys say at the same time: "it's Bill." / "I'm Onion." realizing they are more similar than they would like, they glare at each other in unfriendly silence.

Onion is dry and displeased as he follows the adults through the house. George babbles on about the house, but Onion could care less. George: keep your eye on the floor here, fellas, theres nails that keep poking up, but if i start yanking them i'll have to pull up all the boards too, and im not ready for that part yet. Dale: that bad, huh? George: Brother you have no idea. Plumbing is okay but don't ask about the framing! Now most of this house was built with old growth oak and chestnut, so it don't go down easy, but in the 60's there were some renovations with pine that rotted right out. George, Dale and Onion walk through the house, its many doors strange and maze-like. George: you know, these old houses, they've all got personalities of their own! This one's got a pretty kooky floorplan if you ask me, but i didn't build the fucking thing, i just keep it from falling down! ha hah! George and Dale talk closer, and once again Onion lags behind. George: and don't worry about the kid, sheriff, will's just like i was at that age, it's a phase. Really, there's nothing quite like a little manual labor to settle down a testy... (the font gets increasingly smaller as they wander off.) Onion, alone, turns again at the sound of more whistling. He peers into another dark room.... a strange, pale ghosy half-faded into the dark stands in front of a glowing window. A small candle sits lit on a table, casting a small glow on the corner of something undefinable. Onion thinks: jesus, another one? the way yall pop up like dandelions.... yeah well, not today. get lost! Onion slashes a hand through the air, casting a green exorcism spell. However, it does nothing and the ghost remains. Onion rubs his hand, thinking: What the-? still here? that's new. Onion clicks on the light. A small bell-shaped wind chime picks up the breeze, making a tinking noise. Revealed by the light, the room is a small white kitchen. An exhausted looking teen boy is sitting at the table next to a book and the candle, which is now extinguished. He looks up, his nose a little bloody. Onion thinks: huh? he's alive? The boy looks up at Onion with some surprise. Onion looks back. As they stare across the room at each other, the brisk wind flaps the window curtains and Onion's jacket. The wind chime returns: tink tink tink-tink, tink tink A dog whines and Onion looks down. a mutt is begging for attention from the boy, who pets her, then wipes the blood from his nose.
