Thanks. I had seen that. I also found other packages where this seemed to work but I can't seem to replicate there setup (apparently). I wonder I turned "something" off in the past that is the issue. I think I need to create a "toy" package from scratch to see if I can get that to work.

Mostly b/c I prefer Quarto now for what I used to do in rmarkdown (which replaced what I used to do in Sweave). Also the articles are already written in Quarto. I could convert them to rmarkdown, but the pkgdown docs indicate that using Quarto for this is possible. However, I am missing something.
