BREAKING: This is in Trump's back yard. Washington DC No Kings Day Protest. This is just the start of the day.

It is absolutely unbelievable how many people are turning out for this. I love how everyone is staying peaceful. It's exactly what Trump doesn't want.

This moment is disturbing even in the mundane: I’ve started taking screenshots of historical sources I’m using in research from the national park service, the smithsonian, and the national archives, just in case they get taken down. It’s now a part of my process and takes time I have to plan for.

Mountain biking, injustice, and life lessons

Your bike goes where your eyes (focus) go. If you focus on the obstacle involuntarily your bike will steer towards the obstacle. I thought that is a useful metaphor…

What is excellence?
Since we are in the midst of our annual reviews, I have been pondering this topic extensively. So I figured I ask AI for a useful definition: Excellence is a dynamic concept that refers to the exceptional quality and impact of academic endeavors across various domains. It goes beyond mere competence, signifying an outstanding level of achievement and a commitment to continuous improvement. The second sentence of this definition is rather interesting. What is outstanding?
