I’m a teacher, poet, and author living in the Inland Northwest.
This is my spot. This where I like to sit and read, sometimes with coffee, other times tea, in the evenings a beer, some wine, or a whisky. It’s always there and it’s very comfortable. It’s my spot.

Got some expected but still sad news about my other book yesterday and that had me a bit down. But still, today I managed to write just over 4K words bringing Project Scribblers up to 72K words or roughly 263 pages. And that feels pretty good.

Project Scribblers is now over halfway complete having reached 54199 words or roughly 197 pages. This story has taken some unique turns and is about to reveal a secret society I did not see coming, but it has been a blast to write. Only 10 days left to write 9 more chapters. Wish me luck!

Amongst many other wonderful gifts, my wife got me an external monitor. I’m going to have to move some things around, but it’s so nice not to have to squint when I’m writing anymore. Oh and Project Scribblers is now sitting at just over 47k words.

It’s the first day of the Christmas Holidays and I’ve managed to 3338 words (about 11 pages) today. This brings my book up to 9 chapters, 32408 words, and roughly 120 pages. My hope is for this book to be roughly 80000. That means I’m about 40% done!

Over the weekend I managed to write 5520 words bring the total for my Inklings inspired novel to 24091 words or roughly 94 pages. I am astonished at how much I’ve been able to write in a little under a month! #amwriting #amwritingfantasy #inklings

Papers are graded, writing has happened, and the kids are in bed. So now it’s time for a Speyside mince pie and an Isla scotch.

I had a stack of senior theses to grade today and managed to get through them all. So I celebrated by writing a little over 1000 words on Project Scribblers bringing to the total to 18.5K words. I think that bottle to the right is in my future for tonight. #amwriting #amwritingfantasy

Managed to write nearly 3000 words today bringing Project Scribblers to just over 14k words or roughly 60 pages. People have gone missing and now one of my characters is in prison on suspicion of murdering his wife. #amwriting #amwritingfantasy

Weekends are excellent time for writing for me. Project Scribblers is now sitting pretty at nearly 11.5K words or roughly 50 pages. So far, this has been a blast to write. One of the other questions this book is asking is: what if the man with the thistle down hair was alive in the 1930s?
December 8, 2024 at 1:42 AM
Managed to write a little over 900 words on Project Scribblers this evening. That brings my total word count up to 9,355 words or roughly 41 pages!
December 6, 2024 at 1:55 AM
Time to re-ink some pens.
December 1, 2024 at 9:54 PM
Managed to write just over 1500 words today on what I have decided to call Project Scribblers (following the norm of other author Instagram accounts to not give the title). This brings my total to 5028 words written over 3 days. #amwritingfantasy

Just a few days ago I got started on a new novel that’s essentially asking What if #TheInklings (or a group remarkably like them in a 1930s University in the North of England) met a real fairy? So I’m working on that today and drinking some tea.

Time for some Thanksgiving Vacation reading. If you’ve not read this before you should. Don’t let the length or the footnotes put you off. This book is a well-paced masterpiece. It’s become one of my annual re-reads. The way Clarke builds her world is just amazing. Seriously, read it. Now.

All morning and into the afternoon we’ve been doing yard and house work to prepare for Winter. The backyard is still mostly a mess but the trees have only dropped a third of their leaves. So I’m burning some old limbs I’ve been saving and having a pipe as I prepare to bed down for the Winter.
