This is my spot. This where I like to sit and read, sometimes with coffee, other times tea, in the evenings a beer, some wine, or a whisky. It’s always there and it’s very comfortable. It’s my spot.

This semester I’ll be teaching a class on C. S. Lewis and the Medieval World for high school seniors. We’ll be reading That Hideous Strength, “The Planets”, the Narniad, and Michael Ward’s Planet Narnia. There’s so much more I’d love to read with them, but this will have to do.

Project Scribblers has officially exceeded 80K words and only have one chapter left to write!
January 4, 2025 at 3:51 AM
I am 3725 words away from hitting my word count goal on Project Scribblers, and about 7-8K words away from actually finishing. The end is in sight!

Got some expected but still sad news about my other book yesterday and that had me a bit down. But still, today I managed to write just over 4K words bringing Project Scribblers up to 72K words or roughly 263 pages. And that feels pretty good.

"Ran some errands" in order to think about this novel I'm working on. Came up with some great idea as I talked out loud to myself about what I hoped the final 8 chapters would be. I also ended up missing my turn to go home about four times. Be careful when Driving While Thinking.

Project Scribblers is now over halfway complete having reached 54199 words or roughly 197 pages. This story has taken some unique turns and is about to reveal a secret society I did not see coming, but it has been a blast to write. Only 10 days left to write 9 more chapters. Wish me luck!

Amongst many other wonderful gifts, my wife got me an external monitor. I’m going to have to move some things around, but it’s so nice not to have to squint when I’m writing anymore. Oh and Project Scribblers is now sitting at just over 47k words.

As most of you know by now, I’ve been working on a new novel. Doing so has caused a drastic decrease in my Substack posting. So here’s a little update. davidrussellmosley.substack.com/p/apologies-...

Another good writing day. Despite cleaning the house this morning , I've still managed to write 3500 words on Project Scribblers. One of the fun things about this book has been taking the original Inklings as inspiration and then spreading them out over several characters.

For the past few weeks I’ve been writing as though my life depended on it. Project Scribblers is now sitting at 37K words. So, I’ve set myself a new goal: finish by the end of Christmas Break. I’ll have to write 3200 words a day but that’s been about my average on weekends. So wish me luck!
December 22, 2024 at 10:53 PM
It’s the first day of the Christmas Holidays and I’ve managed to 3338 words (about 11 pages) today. This brings my book up to 9 chapters, 32408 words, and roughly 120 pages. My hope is for this book to be roughly 80000. That means I’m about 40% done!
December 21, 2024 at 7:43 PM
Over the weekend I managed to write 5520 words bring the total for my Inklings inspired novel to 24091 words or roughly 94 pages. I am astonished at how much I’ve been able to write in a little under a month! #amwriting #amwritingfantasy #inklings

Papers are graded, writing has happened, and the kids are in bed. So now it’s time for a Speyside mince pie and an Isla scotch.
December 14, 2024 at 4:52 AM
I had a stack of senior theses to grade today and managed to get through them all. So I celebrated by writing a little over 1000 words on Project Scribblers bringing to the total to 18.5K words. I think that bottle to the right is in my future for tonight. #amwriting #amwritingfantasy
