Important take from an awesome human.
My annual psych internship rant, now with even more 🔥. The pre-PhD internship is an outdated model that devalues the expertise psych students bring. Now, we may be requiring students to move to unsafe cities and unstable positions, during a stage when healthcare and reproductive rights are critical.

I am not going to call this a Bluetorial, because I do not want to sully that term (which, at least I, find joyful).

Let’s call it a Orwellial.

Studies show that funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) contributed to 354 of 356 drugs (99.4%) approved by the FDA from 2010 to 2019. Recklessly slashing NIH funding will mean that patients will be waiting much longer for life-saving treatments.

Thank you @natureportfolio.bsky.social for making my review of the Anxious Generation open access for parents, policy-makers, and the public. The story told in this book runs counter science and is leading to poor policy decisions that will ultimately fail our kids. www.nature.com/articles/d41...
The great rewiring: is social media really behind an epidemic of teenage mental illness?
The evidence is equivocal on whether screen time is to blame for rising levels of teen depression and anxiety — and rising hysteria could distract us from tackling the real causes.

For so many reasons therapists dont take insurance but # 1

The reimbursement rates we have been quoted for #eatingdisorder specialty care range from $30-50 per hour, w overhead costs, note writing, working w/ care team this would mean a therapist is making about 7.50-12.50 an hour

Unsustainable
Why is it so hard to find a therapist who takes insurance?

We heard from more than 500 mental health care providers who left their networks because of red tape, low reimbursement rates, delayed payments and more.
