This‼️ Limited-term contracts are one of the strangest developments in academia, with significant impacts on personal lives.
We are pleased to announce the launch of a series of precarity awareness posters based on the findings from the survey.

Free to download and print - please circulate online and put them up in your departments.

Thanks to @zjayres for the design!

Fantastic to be in the classroom (and later at the beamline) discussing the many benefits of incorporating SAXS into integrative modeling. Day 5 of #EMBOStructBio here in Hamburg, and the students are still very motivated!

Great to see @ebi.embl.org (the organisation I am Director of, part of @embl.org) on this site “corporately” +notice the “correct” domain name (and for EMBL watchers, note is .embl.org not .ac.uk - the latter a hangover from academic network joining rules in the 1990s). Stay tuned to both for more

little red bump = large portion of happiness as the X-ray re-enters our orbit ... however, that will mean less time to explore the blue skies.

Thanks @jeffkinney.bsky.social, now my kids can keep busy reading #HotMess and #SoEinSchlamassel , while I get to explore this new sky! #BlueSkyMoment #ParentWin

...realizing that switching to blue skies is as easy as having AI create a matching picture to announce to your Twitter friends—only to realize there’s no one left to see the announcement. #All_gone

Decided to change my obsession with gathering political updates every few seconds and have volunteered to take care of kid#3's class photo shoot. Realizing too late that it involves hosting all the 9yo's at my home. New kind of madness expected.
