Yeah, T&F has 5 data policies, each more progressive. SURR is 2/5, we’re aiming for Open & FAIR (5/5). SURR gets authors used to mandatory data availability statements, and gives @brooke-long-fox.bsky.social & me input for journal guidance for when HB moves to Publicly Available (3/5) & beyond

Our 1st data policy change (from ‘basic’ to get to Open & FAIR). SURR mandates a data availability statement, telling us % of papers using data, and where they’re putting them. Our data editor is writing HB data policy & guidance, which will be ready for change to ‘Publicly Available’

5. In June, peer-review in Historical Biology will become double-blind.

2. Deputy editors-in-chief. Hans Sues and Rodrigo Mueller are now DEiCs! One will take the EiC role if I'm away or have a conflict of interest.
3. Phylogenetics Editor. Rodrigo is also our first PE! He'll be authors point-of-contact for all things phylogenetics. More to come from Rodrigo!
