We have raised $2685 so far, and when we reach $3000, we will unlock a $500 matching gift. It would be impossible to overstate how important this campaign is for rural organizing in Arkansas. From supporting AmeriCorps volunteers to buying books and reference materials, this program is essential.

Given the poverty of these counties, literacy programs offer skills and pipelines into futures that are NOT controlled by extremist groups. If you want to make an immediate difference in this political climate, supporting rural literacy programs is one way to change the politics of identification.

A little bit goes a long way in Arkansas and these folks are working so hard to improve literacy in the Natural State. They serve five mostly rural Arkansas communities: Franklin, Logan, Johnson, Pope, and Yell. That coverage area is 3,815 square miles, with a population of 151,158 people!
