Want longevity as a pitcher? Don't get boxed in. Physically or metaphorically. If your pitching training isn't adapting as you develop, your performance ceiling is artificially capped.

Deviations from “ideal” mechanics are trained out of pitchers; her problem-solving ability stunted by a narrow bandwidth of movement exploration. Faced with a new constraint (fatigue, shrinking strike zone, field conditions), she will be unable to effectively adapt.

What does she ACTUALLY bring with her that is slow to change or naturally occurring as part of her physical development.

What psychosocial influences exist (like anxiety) that may shape with environmental constraint response?

This assumption has led coaches to focus on static and isolation drills to perfectly replicate the positions these elite pitchers create. Coaching developing athletes is not paint by number. It's a canvas that is constantly.

And elite athletes are elite compensators.
