No, claims of a rise of conservatism among young men (compared with women) don’t ring true. New research shows youth gender gap is something we’ve seen across time.

Shutting down sustainable industry to protect a filthy one
Lobster fishery off Bruny Island in TAS closed on eve of the opening of fishing season due to antibiotic use by the salmon farms.
No indication of how long for. Must be a devastating blow for fishermen approaching Xmas.

Chilling #4corners on the sinister & way too powerful Plymouth Brethren secretive sect.
So how come they helped the LNP so prominently at the last election? Of course Abbott speaks for them & that little toady Greg Hunt already bought up.
Good that media & ATO investigating them…maybe police too?

Labor's election commitment on housing is already crumbling. Core issue here is who buys homes - Greens want to provide housing for those who need it, not wealthy property investors. That won't happen til' we fix the unfair tax concessions that put first homes out of reach of everyday Australians.

Who — or what — really runs Sydney? A vast colossus of gambling, hospitality, media and sport. And it's rotten to the core, writes Bernard Keane.
The terrors of toytown: Sydney quakes in the shadows of entertainment and gambling egos
Sydneysiders should stop pretending they live in a serious city. It's run by the entertainment-gambling industrial complex, and it stinks.

Only just caught these arresting stats from @markgkenny on women in Libs;
- more women in Labor caucus than LNP members
- more women Independents than female Libs
- more women Greens than female Libs
So quotas & affirmative policies really are so unnecessary then!?!?

University policy has been broken for 40 years. ‘Our policymakers must be brave enough to argue that education is unequivocally and intrinsically a public good, vital to the interests of the nation, and therefore worth funding properly.’ www.afr.com/policy/healt...
Universities aren’t pizza joints; stop treating them that way
Policymakers must set aside the fiction that universities are just another industry that can generate its own funding and that academics can be turned into entrepreneurs.

Hope so Zoe. Because of you and the Independents movement - many LNP "reps" are going to have to think about what their electorate wants more than their donors.

May be a very novel experience.

Hope to see you back in the seat in 2028.

But it’s not enough that sensible countries voted against Trump & his callow clones.
We need centre/left to create a new positive narrative about society, internationalism & the environment to completely supplant RW populism, & address the real problems that give rise to it.
Dismantle neoliberalism!
First Germany said NO to fascism and Trumpism.

Then Canada said NO to fascism and Trumpism.

And now Australia has said NO to fascism and Trumpism.

The people of the world are speaking with their votes and we want democracy not authoritarianism.

I am concerned the Electoral Commission has identified the person responsible for the 47,000 illegal pamphlets but will not tell the public who it is, or whether they will be prosecuted.
I have written to the AEC asking for an explanation.
The public has the right to know.

There’s a growing amount of misinformation about my voting record – and unfortunately, it's still legal to lie in political ads in Australia.
To protect voters, I’ve launched the Ethical Political Advertising Code – a voluntary initiative promoting honesty & integrity in election campaigns.
