I just discovered the whole "genre" of AI generated "vintage music". Apparently you can ask AI to make something that sounds like "1950s bad girl blues" or whatever and get something that could fool a lot of people, but really is nothing like the real thing.

As an AI skeptic, I gave @anthropic.com's "Claude for Education" chatbot a try and was fairly impressed. It held its own on topics I'm deeply familiar with, made few errors (accepting correction when it did), and pointed me to new sources of information. It's probably better than a google search.

A recurring dream of mine is to be on a small beach by a coastal bluff as the waves get bigger and bigger, attempting to climb to safety but being ultimately swept away.
NEW: Extraordinary footage has emerged of the huge tsunami that hit Russia’s remote Kamchatka peninsula after the 8.8 magnitude earthquake on July 30th.

This and "oxidation" as a paragram solution to Tuesday's Spelling Bee makes me thing a geochemistry conference is just to place to be today.

This always drove me crazy when I attended protests in the USA. Why show up at a protest with a banner for the wrong cause?

I learned today that the some Greenlandic placenames combine both the -ssuaq affix for "large" and the -nngua affix for "small". Example: Kangerlussuannguaq, meaning Little Big Fjord. This name appears four times on the Oqaasileriffik maps, describing fjords that are short but wide. Cute!

This is utterly shocking
In 25 years of covering national security, I’ve never seen a story like this: Senior Trump officials discussed planning for the U.S. attack on Yemen in a Signal group--and inadvertently added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

Please help - it could save a lot of fuel

Though the obvious one is Stalin, Joseph I (the 18th century emperor of Austria) ordered mass killings, torture, and mutilation of Romani people within Habsburg domains and certainly deserves to be erased.
