Carol Burnett is roundly considered, as Amy Poehler puts it, an “unproblematic fave,” whose status as a national treasure is without controversy. Burnett prefers things that way. Read Rachel Syme’s Profile of the 92-year-old comedy legend. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/8DjA9Y

Isn't the #Brockenspectre phenomenon the most mindblowing visual experience? It is basically a fully circular cloudbow & it happens often at the summit of #Haleakalā Volcano. 🌤️🌈

This is Duncan. He's used to being the biggest dog at the vet. But apparently not today. 14/10 for both (TT: animalimaging)

That kid and that dog are gonna have a great life together.
A pregnant woman was shocked to realize her sonogram resembled her dog's face. Inês Egner went in for her 20-week anatomy scan and left with a photo that looked exactly like her dog, Goulash. She said, "In truth, we do like to jokingly refer to the dog as our son." 14/10 (TT: inesverse)

Local volcano student & photographer Yvonne Baur was hiking the backcountry of #HVNP a while back & found a few pieces of #reticulate.

We will let her explain: This is gas-rich frothy lava blown here downwind from an #eruption. The delicate pieces are like little sponges & are extremely fragile. 🌋

A toothy critter cosplaying Betelgeuse for Halloween? :) This Yellowhead moray was...not thrilled I interrupted his evening hunt. This is something of a threat posture, the eel deepening its yellow head and grey stripes as a warning. One of the few species you want to be cautious around. :) 📷🌿🐟🦑

Rays gotta eat!
Hey, @echinoblog.bsky.social , urchin predation, this is a new one on me--I've seen eagle rays rooting in the sand a lot but never saw one grab a pencil urchin like this!
