Screenshot of me ranting in a Discord server about how unhealthy the Misty card is in Pokemon TCG Pocket. "I won [the win streak event] with it and I still want it nerfed into the floor. The idea I had [for the deck I used] was to run fairly low-cost attackers that could function normally... and then you also toss in two copies of Misty anyway, because why the fuck not, it's a bullshit card and even a single early Energy really accelerates anything in the deck. Gyarados is cool and all, but it also needs four Energy, and also Magikarp sucks. Meanwhile, Frogadier is a one-Energy attacker [which makes it good] for going first, Bruxish synergizes with both Greninja (its ability Water Shuriken) and Articuno EX (its attack Blizzard) to ensure it gets its damage bonus every time, and Articuno EX... is Articuno EX. Like, [the deck I made] would be solid WITHOUT a 50% chance to cheat extra Energy onto whatever you want (referring to Misty). And [Misty] also sucks because innocent cards like Swanna and base Vaporeon (from Genetic Apex) get stuck with high Energy costs on their fairly mediocre attacks... entirely because Misty exists. [Water Pokemon cards] are basically punished with having to pay 'the Misty Tax', while the already good Water cards [still profit from Misty and] become even better. Genuinely, fuck Misty."

if Misty was limited to evolved non-EX Pokemon it'd be so much healthier. the other type-boost supporters (Brock, Blaine, Surge) specify VERY specific cards, but Misty can be slapped down on a basic EX and steal a cheesy win just because the card happens to be blue.

A humble Porygon staring down the opponent's golden Mew EX. Gyarados EX is fully powered up on their bench, but is scared to attack, as it will be KO'd in return by the player's Alakazam - and Sabrina won't help them, as the player's bench also has a Beheeyem ready to attack (or absorb a hit). The player's Alakazam destroying the opponent's Gyarados EX with a 180-damage Psychic, scoring the duel-winning KO. The opponent has two golden Mew EX on their bench, implying that they spend a lot of money "whaling" given their deck's numerous other full-art cards.

just won a match where some nerd flipped EIGHT HEADS on a Misty and powered up their benched Magikarp immediately. they switch in Gyara and KO Beheeyem... I switch Alakazam in and OHKO it back lmao

this is my favorite deck by a MILE, Porygon feels super cool alongside Mythical Slab and Poké Ball

friendly reminder to CLEAR THE SOLO BATTLE CHALLENGES. I got tons of Shop Tickets and Pack Hourglasses, and was able to get several really cool cards without spending ANY Poké Gold! on the night of the pack's release!
