Aha! I went to see his house in the late 90s (made a special trip from Lampeter) as I felt I needed to see it... and Oswestry. Both are utterly lovely.

Hmm, have you tried Trench Crusade? I haven't done that (or Konflikt 47) but it seems a cool idea... completely left-field may be any skirmish historical stuff... I'm rewatching Sharpe and, yes, I'm considering collecting Peninsular now - after I said I wouldn't!
