M went into the city to a club tonight. Yes, I’m waiting up for her. Yes, she’s an adult who is very responsible. But honestly? I’ve been trying not to think about all the possible outcomes of the evening. I’ll just be glad when she’s home.

Don’t know what else to say, really.

You don’t want to make sweeping conclusions when n = 1.

But listening to him, it was hard not to see him as the emblem of something larger and still potent.

So many have been completely captured by the American unreality culture.

It feels like there’s […]

time
a social construct
metronoming our days
some days worth more than others
but still only 24 hours
why was this Thursday special?
only in some quadrants of the planet
tradition or habit?

you are already living in tomorrow
it’s morning there, night here
how do we exist on the same marble
yet […]

@mcnees does being a level 14 prof mean 14 years of professoring or 14 years as FULL PROFESSOR? Asking for me, because I clearly need to add my stats to my bio. (This is not sarcasm) ((Also, hi! I’m a chemist who loves quantum physics.))

I need my gadgets to have Vacation Mode, where ALL of a set of routine alarms (yes, I have many) are silenced for multiple days and will be active again when the Vacation Mode is over

I have the alarms to help with ADHD/time blindness, so switching them off is a gamble that I'll remember to […]

Pneumonia and Covid vax yesterday, so today I feel like trash. I’ve already done 4 loads of laundry and watched the Buckeyes, but now I’m dead. Someone else needs to decide dinner.

I bought a ticket to see Lady Gaga next March when she comes to DC. Very excited. And also proud of myself for not spending too much time asking friends to join me. I think it will be an amazing show no matter who is nearby.

Made some handouts for #repaircafe today. The stories I’ve heard about knife care! *shudder* Maybe this will help. @RepairCafeFFX

What timing, haha. I was just looking to put on a CD and found the US Thanksgiving-themed mix I put together in my 20s. Title: "Tofurky" 😆

Saturday #ThreeGoodThings in pictures.

1) Sebastian sprawls while waiting for treats after dinner.

2) I used the last old brownie to make a sundae for dessert.

3) I got my car washed and added a couple new decals to the window. 🐿️💞🐰

I got a new MacBook this past summer and am finally setting it up. Need to copy over 20 years of files. Tried using migration assistant, but don’t want to transfer users just files. Opted to use an old school portable hard drive.

I was invited to a #dnd coffee shop event this afternoon, but am feeling supremely introverted today. The idea was good, the reality… not so much. Apologies to my fav DM, I hope others turn out.

I’ve been testing a theory: many people who are high on #ai and #LLMs are just new to automation and don’t realize you can automate processes with simple programming, if/then conditions, and API calls with zero AI involved.

So far it’s been working!

Whenever I’ve been asked to make an AI flow […]

Glad I stepped out for a morning walk - and 8 mins away from the hotel for breakfast.
6 seats at this spot and just a lady slowly assembling the breakfast. Glad I went in, 3 people waiting in line when I left. Soft light warm onigiri, not compressed much. (Koshihikari rice, I asked)
