My vintage RCPUSA "Mao More Than Ever" shirt that I inexplicably found on Taobao of all places came in the mail. Feels like college all over again....

I can't stand either of these editions. This is the only English edition I will abide in my Little Red Book collection.

Red vinyl cover, name of the book, and a little gold star in the middle. Like they intended it to be.

Bedtime Poem:
After the Fresh Blossoms Have Gone
by Ouyang Xiu (歐陽修)(1007- 1072)

After the fresh blossoms have gone- West Lake is good.
Tattered scraps of remnant red,
Mist of cotton catkins flying,
Weeping willow by the railing in the wind and sun.

晚安,同志们💤🌜❤️

My Huawei Nova 7SE finally bit the dust yesterday after a tumble down a stairwell. Ran over to the local electronics market and bought a Huawei Nova 13 and I'm very impressed with the new HarmonyOS. China may not be perfect, but its phones sure are... (The battery on it is a BEAST!!!)

This is something I'm begging each and every one of you to understand about the Cultural Revolution. 90% of narratives about the GPCR, whether a college freshman World History textbook or a Maoist collective's agitprop pamphlet, get this terribly wrong. (from Jin Qiu's "The Culture of Power")

Bedtime poem:

"Peach Blossom at Dalin Temple"
by Bai Juyi (772-842CE)

"Across the world this June, the petals all have fallen,
But the mountain temple's peach blossom has just begun to bloom.
I regretted so much that spring had gone without a trace,
I didn't know that it had only moved up here."

The new Hui halal dumpling shop outside my apartment complex is DELICIOUS. I was so stuffed.

Shaanxi hot-and-sour lamb jiaozi soup is the best for a night like this!

Bedtime poem:
"Hearing A Flute in Spring"
by Li Bai (701-762CE)

"From whose home secretly flies the sound of a jade flute?
It's lost amid the spring wind which fills Luoyang city.
In the middle of this nocturne I remember the snapped willow,
What person would not start to think of home!"

晚安,同志们~~~
